Consistency.
We are all too familiar with the word in this modern day world of ours but how many of us can truly say we are consistent with the things we need to be.
It's easy to be consistent in being lazy, breaking that keto diet, or going to Starbucks to grab that beloved latte.
Do you feel attacked? Don't, I'm speaking on myself as well, so we're in this together.
However, sometimes, it seems like it's impossible to stay consistent in being productive without distraction. It's hard to keep on track with that 7-day detox or skipping that coffee shop for a healthy smoothie instead.
Why is that?
Truth be told it's very simple. Being consistent with something that is out of your norm is uncomfortable. In this fast-paced, technological society, we don't have to tolerate much discomfort and we like that.
As some of you may know, but many don't, I started this blog a year ago and within that year I only wrote three entries. Whoo-hoo, FAIL!
Although I knew this was something I wanted to do, I just couldn't keep at it. But fast forward to today, I decided that it was time to dive back into writing. There's so much I want to share with you all and my laziness is blocking me from being a blessing to others. How selfish?
Which brings me to tip #1: Make up your mind.
There are many blogs that will dance around the truth and attempt to make you feel better about yourself and your inconsistency. That's fine, but not here. This is a truth-telling, no sugar-coat type of blog, because I love you and I truly want you to do better...
So DO BETTER! It's time for us to decide to put our goals first. Making up your mind and going after what you want isn't as hard as we think once we get past being uncomfortable. Like Nike says, just do it.
It may seem very minute when wanting to become more disciplined, but let's be honest with ourselves. It's everything.
Like seriously, think about it, how many times have we said we were leaving that relationship only to end up right back in it?
It's decisions like that, that will follow you into all your decisions.
Being indecisive is a big part of being inconsistent. Having a double mind - halfway in, halfway out is always dangerous.
Take the time to think about what it is you really want to do and also WHY you want to do it. This will help you stay motivated to complete your goals even when you think you are too tired to do so.
With that being said, get up and get started!...After you finish reading of course.
When you make up your mind and start moving towards completing that goal, now it's time for tip #2: Enjoy the process.
Yes, tackling your goals can be hard but who says it can't be fun?
A lot of times we can't see the beauty in the process because we are too focused on how difficult it may seem. But that can't keep being an excuse, at this point, we are way too old for that!
It boils down to being an optimist. A glass half full type of individual.
Me being able to write this blog and you reading it, should be a reason to keep smiles on our faces, because we're alive! But I understand, sometimes that just isn't enough.
You have to physically put yourself in a position to get things done effectively.
For example, if you hate to workout, but love to dance, join a Zumba class! You get to dance to energetic music and bust a good sweat. Win-win right?
Trying to cut back on sugar? Find healthy recipes or even vegan-friendly spots where you could treat yourself to something sweet without reverting back to old habits.
When you bring yourself out of your comfort zone and into new experiences you find it easier to enjoy the journey towards greatness.
Taking the time to look at the brighter side has the possibility to open new doors of opportunity. And because you are putting yourself out there in a productive manner, it also allows you to meet new people who are on a path towards being and staying consistent.
Meeting these new amazing individuals, welcomes you to walk into the final tip
#3: Build a community.
I know upon reading the title you probably thought I would advise you to get a morning routine, pray, meditate, etc.
And although I do suggest all of those things, I truly believe that even more important than that is being aware of who you surround yourself with.
If you are constantly in the presence of those who would rather talk about what they want to do than to actually do it, you will inevitably fall into the same pattern.
When you begin to walk into your purpose, those who can help you excel will automatically come to you.
It's like you become a magnet for all things related to your growth.
I will be honest, this support doesn't always come right away. There may be a time when you feel very alone in your process but you have to enjoy that phase and grow through it. You'd be surprised what you learn about yourself when there's no one else around.
On the other side of that feeling lonely, are wonderful connections waiting for you.
So what are you waiting for? It's time to build that dream!
Make up your mind. Enjoy the process. Build a community.
With these three simple steps, you will crush your goals. I'm already so proud of you!
